Head of Estates and Facilities

Define it

The estates team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a major healthcare provider in the UK, recognised that their Computerised Asset Management System (CAFM) wasn’t delivering its full potential. To address this challenge, they partnered with us.

Through an in-depth analysis of the existing system and a comprehensive review of end-to-end processes, we identified areas for improvement. This resulted in a 12-month roadmap outlining significant enhancements, including a detailed Benefits Realisation Plan to track the project’s value proposition.

Improve it

Working with the estates team, we established and implemented short and medium-term improvements. These included:

  • Improving data capture quality: Ensuring accurate and reliable data for effective asset management through streamlined processes, automation and increased use of mobile technology for real-time updates.
  • Training front-line staff: Equipping staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to optimise their use of the CAFM system.
  • Upgrading the CAFM system: Implementing the latest version to leverage new features and functionalities.

Sustain it

By the end of the project, the NHS Trust estates team achieved a significant milestone. They successfully implemented an improved Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule across the NHS Trust. This streamlined approach not only simplified maintenance tasks but also facilitated easier and more accurate reporting, ensuring statutory compliance.
