Define it
UBS recognised the significant opportunity that AI presents for improving productivity, decision-making and operational efficiency. However, achieving value required more than simply providing access to AI tools.
Key challenges included:
- Employees were at varying levels of AI maturity and confidence
- Teams needed practical, role-relevant guidance rather than theoretical training
- There was a need to encourage responsible AI use within governance and compliance requirements
- Many colleagues were unsure where AI could add value within their day-to-day roles
- Maintaining momentum beyond initial awareness sessions was critical to achieving long-term adoption
- Teams needed support in translating AI curiosity into practical business outcomes
CI Projects was engaged to design and deliver a practical AI enablement programme focused on building capability, confidence and sustainable adoption across the business.
Improve it
CI Projects designed and delivered a blended programme of practical AI training and mentoring, tailored specifically to the UBS environment.
Rather than focusing on theory, the programme concentrated on helping employees understand where AI could add value, how to use it responsibly and how to embed it into existing ways of working.
Our support included:
- Practical AI workshops focused on real business scenarios
- Hands-on demonstrations and guided exercises using AI tools
- Use case identification and prioritisation sessions
- AI mentoring and coaching for individuals and small groups
- Prompt engineering guidance and practical application support
- Review and refinement of AI-enabled outputs
- Support for integrating AI into existing processes and workflows
- Advice on governance, compliance considerations and responsible AI use
- Development of role-specific and function-specific AI use cases
All workshops were grounded in real UBS challenges and processes rather than generic examples, ensuring immediate relevance and practical value for participants.
Sustain it
One of the key insights from the programme was that interest in AI continued to increase after the workshop.
As employees began experimenting with AI in their day-to-day roles, new questions, opportunities and challenges emerged. Recognising the need for continued support, CI Projects worked with UBS to implement AI Momentum – an ongoing AI enablement service designed to sustain adoption and build long-term capability.
AI Momentum provides:
- Monthly AI Drop-In Clinics
- Real-time expert support and coaching
- Practical, case-specific problem solving
- Guided learning content and challenges
- AI innovation and feature updates
- Ongoing use case development support
- Monthly feedback, insights and recommendations
- Continuous reinforcement of responsible AI practices
This approach allows UBS colleagues to continue learning, experimenting and building confidence long after formal training has finished, ensuring AI adoption becomes embedded within day-to-day ways of working.
